Profile

Hi, I'm Jia Zhe. This is my blog where I post little snippets of my life, fanfiction and orginal works. I've also recently taken to writing a lot about Kung Fu Panda and its characters. Enjoy. But only if you really want to.

Debate

08:20, Saturday, 31 January 2009

The debating season has started again, first round will be next Friday.
So it's a new year with new motions and a new face in the team. Our team this year comprises me, Shreya, Timothy, Jared and a new girl named 'Astrid'.
I am very worried this year about it because our everyday training sessions have been reduced to twice, thrice tops, a week. To me, it is hardly enough time to prepare for a 'B' Division debate. Also, last year, we were a fresh team, so everyone probably lowered their guard against us. They might really take us seriously this year.
Moreover, I have absolutely no clue who this Astrid girl is. By now, she has skipped two trainings with no valid reason at all, and hence, we don't know the extent of her debating skills. We don't even know what she looks like. According to sources, she's a Eurasian who just transferred into a school just about a week ago.
I don't know how good she is, but if she can blow off training as easily as that, there is a good forecast of friction in the team this year.
And I really want to win this year, because it's probably my last year joining this competition. For the past two years I have always had to settle for 'Quarter-Finalist'. Sure, maybe its an achievement, but I just don't get that feeling of accomplishment just staying in the quarter-finals.
I want to go all the way and to make debate a real CCA.
Anyways, the motion is , 'This House believes that there should be a cap on the salaries of professional sportsmen.' We are the proposition, up against Chueng Cheng High School.
I don't know about them, but I have a pretty bad feeling about this year.
