Change

There is a moment in every war, in every conflict where everything changes; a moment when the road bends and deviates. Alliances shift; battle lines shift, and the rules of engagement are rewritten. Moments like these can change the nature of battle and turn the tables, for either side. So, we do all we can possibly do to understand them. To prepare ourselves for change, we steady our hearts, curb our fears, muster our forces, and look for signs in the stars. But these moments, these changes remain a mystery to those who pretend to understand them. It is Destiny's invisible hand manipulating pieces on a chess board. No matter how much we prepare for them, no matter how much we resist the change, anticipate the moment, fight the inevitable outcome, in the end, we are never really ready for it when it strikes.-Heroes: The Eclipse
I find this quote to be quite appropriate in the terms of when we are debating against another school, except for the part where we '
look for signs in the stars'. In the context of a classroom debate, this would probably not be possible.
When change comes, some species feel the need to migrate, to move away. They call it zugunruhe, a pull of the soul to a far off place. Following a scent carried by the wind, or a star in the sky, the ancient message comes calling for the kindred to take flight and gather together. Only then can they hope to survive the cruel season that is about to come.
This is quite deep, I took quite a while to understand it.
