It's sad that the Drama Club doesn't have more members. Then we wouldn't have to witness the travesty that is terrible school skits (so obviously scripted).
The thing that immediately puts off the audience is the fact that the "actors" themselves (note here that the word actors is enclosed in inverted commas since I'm obliged to refer to them as such on a technicality) sound like they only saw the script minutes before the "play" (see above). If they couldn't sound sincere, they could at least try to be spontaneous. We sure spent a good half hour watching them stumble over lines and staring at each other inanely.
And no, I'm not being racist (since this rant refers to the skit on Hari Raya). This applies to all school skits in general, especially those that I have to watch.
Also, a handy note to hosts (emcees, if you prefer that term) is that asking your co-host a question you already know the answer to only works if you don't sound so corny. If not, just stick to linear delivery and spare us the eye-rolling. "Wasn't that a good performance?" is my favourite line to hate. Especially when the co-host replies in Singlish.
