Sigh. Musical theatre is a dead art in Singapore. I don't have anything against regular theatre, really, but come on. Acting is one thing, but throw in singing, dancing and a little Vaudevillian shenanigans and it's an arts smorgasbord.
Oh yes, I did find out that Les Miserables did play in Singapore once, in 1994. In the now defunct Kallang Theatre, to boot (smashes keyboard). So looks like I'll probably never get to watch it. Colon left parenthesis times ten to the power of fourteen.
While looking it up, I did find out that SISTIC is holding a poll of some sorts asking respondents what future performances they would want to see in the future, with Les Miserables and Wicked as two of the options. I was very disappointed to find out that the top few options were Korean bands. Where's the culture, people?
With that said, I'd give anything to find a clip of Ruthie Henshall performing in Cats or Les Miserables. Youtube is coming up short as of today.
