Em dashes vs. En dashes - a conundrum of epic proportions

I think I'm about to go nuts trying to decide which one to use in Microsoft Word. I mean, em dashes are more typographically correct, but...they're so bulky and so...so...connected to words. It irks me to no end - the idea that there's something hanging off the end of a word like a vestigial body part. En dashes look much neater and symmetrical anyway.

To heck with it - I'm probably going to stick with en dashes seeing as I really don't want to overhaul every single piece of work I've written so far.
